The above picture shows a pedestrian crossing a five lane roadway. Idaho law requires the motorist in the pedestrian’s lane (lane C) to slow or stop to yield the right-of-way. Are motorists in any of the other lanes required to do the same? If so, which lanes?
The Answer: POSSIBLY ALL LANES
A motorist is required to slow or stop his or her vehicle if need be to yield to a pedestrian. Every motorist, regardless of the lane they may be occupying, is to exercise all due care in safeguarding the safety of any person within a crosswalk.
