The Question:
The above picture shows three bicyclists traveling together. They are alongside one another within a single lane. As long as they do not impede traffic is this legal?
The Answer: NO
It is ILLEGAL for more than two bicyclists to travel alongside each other within a single lane on a roadway. If riding two abreast and traveling SLOWER than the flow of traffic, the cyclists must return to a single file and move to the far right side of the lane as practical (or at the bicyclist’s option, the far left side on a one-way street).
This answer is based on Idaho state code 49-717 (1)(a)(b)(c); 49-718.
